As part of a grant generously funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), the Wolfsonian Public Humanities Lab (WPHL), the hub for the humanities and public-facing work at Florida International University, is pleased to offer one funded internship for Spring 2022 in Miami Studies. As part of the building of a robust program in Miami Studies at FIU, the intern will gain a number of professional skills in the planning and coordinating of a Miami Studies Symposium, workshops, reading groups, and other related work such as social media branding and dissemination. The Miami Student Intern will be eligible to receive a $1,500.00 stipend, which will be paid hourly. The student may also receive college credit through this skills-based experience by simultaneously enrolling in a Public History Internship for Spring 2022.
Responsibilities may include
- Work roughly 5-10 hours per week (for a total of 100 hours for the semester)
- Create and update WPHL social media content
- Attend WPHL events on campus and off-campus (i.e., community partner sites)
- Assist in the planning and coordinating of WPHL programs and events
- Conduct primary and secondary research
- Help organize WPHL’s Inaugural Miami Studies Symposium, to be held at the Historic Hampton House on March 5, 2022
- Assist with the writing and editing of WPHL eblasts and newsletters
- Assist in the collecting and preserving of oral histories
- Assist in video/audio editing (training, if necessary, to be provided)
