Our Stories: FIU is an on-going photographic and reflective undergraduate student-based project and podcast series that hopes to document our present times through the eyes, voice, and language of our students. This project is a marriage between visual and auditory storytelling that hopes to archive this turbulent moment in human history and highlight voices from marginalized community groups.
Shortly after the shutdowns caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic, the FIU Honors College and the WPHL began sending students disposable cameras to give them the opportunity to show us a glimpse into their life during those uncertain times. Students were asked to capture their day-to-day life in just 27 exposures, write a reflection about their experience, and join us on a podcast episode to debrief everything that happened during the Summer of 2020 amidst the global pandemic, nationwide protests, U.S. presidential election, and more.
Our students reflected on moments like managing their mental health, being stuck in different countries away from their family, activism during COVID-19, the 4th of July, quarantine life, Black Lives Matter protests and calls for Black Liberation, and more

We invite you to experience a snapshot of FIU students' lives now and during the pandemic. The Our Stories team is currently working on recording new podcast episodes for our next cohort of students.
